Going wireless?

BigAir Group LimitedBigAir have announced the upgrading of their Sydney network to WiMAX, a wireless network service with a symmetrical speed of 1Gbps (50 times faster than ADSL 2+). Their aim is to upgrade the major metropolitan areas (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) by the end of the year.

With their investment of AUD205,000, BigAir is looking to build up 10 additional base stations to support the upgrade and demand.

“In the very near future we will offer even higher speeds as WiMAX technology evolves,” BigAir chief executive Jason Ashton said.

BigAir finished with cash balances of $3.8 million, and net operating cash flow of $155,000 (ASX CODE: BGL stands at $0.105 as of 11:30am, 1 Aug 2007).
