Very valid point there Rachel. Indeed job listing sites still have advertisers posting in new listings… but I guess, while one company cuts their staff down, others want them.

In fact, I heard that when the Lehman brothers collapsed there were headhunters around the office cherry-picking staff as they left the building on their last day.

"Headhunters moved into the coffee bars and cafes around the Lehman Brothers Canary Wharf HQ within hours of its collapse, setting up make-shift recruitment offices to cherry-pick the best people"

Vicky - Lots of people being laid off. I still see thousands of jobs posted on employment sites.

www.linkedin.com (networking)
www.indeed.com (aggregated listings)
www.realmatch.com (matches you to jobs)

good luck to those searching for jobs.
